The Speed Academy's Peak Performance Group
-
The Peak Performance Group consists of High School and older athletes that can make the time commitment necessary to reach their highest level of speed, agility and strength endurance development; sooner rather than later. This group of athletes will participate in both the Speed and Strength components of The Speed Academy’s Speed, Agility and Strength Development Program. These athletes will train four days weekly over a four-week period. The Peak Performance Group will also be encouraged participate in our affiliated track & field program with the K.C. Flyers Track Club.
During our winter program, the members of this group usually train in our later training session each day, 8:00 -9:30 p.m.

Peak Performance Group Overview

Speed & Strength Development


The Speed Academy specialize in developing pre-high school and older athletes. The Peak Performance member will participate in both components of The Speed Academy's Speed & Strength Development Programs. The Peak Performance program which consist of a four-week training regimen that meets four days weekly, Monday through Thursday. The Speed Academy Speed & Strength Development Program contains two components:
(1) The Speed, Quickness and Agility Component; and
(2) Strength Endurance Component.
We work with athletes four days weekly.
Pre-high school athletes will meet 7:00-8:15 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays. High School and older athletes will meet from 8:00-9:30 p.m. During the summer, we schedule two time periods for this program. The Early Bird Session, 8:30-9:45 a.m., meets four mornings. The Late Session 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., also meets four evenings each week: Monday-Thursday.

Speed Development

Speed, Quickness & Agility Development


The Speed, Quickness and Agility Component : Before athletes can permanently improve speed, they must first improve running efficiency. The initial training involves a series of speed specific drills designed to improve the young athlete’s technical running skills. As the athlete progress through the four-week training program, athletes will engage in a specific speed, quickness and agility training regiment designed to improve aerobic and anaerobic conditioning. The Speed & Agility components will be incorporated into the 4-day weekly programs.
Generally this component of the Peak Performance Program will meet during the evenings. Pre-high school athletes will meet 7:00-8:15 p.m. High school and older participants will meet 8:00-9:30 p.m. However, during our summer schedule, participants may train earlier in the day.

Strength Endurance Development

Strength Endurance Development


Strength Endurance Component : As athletes improve the running efficiency, speed, quickness and agility, strength endurance is critical to the athlete to maintaining the speed gains achieved through the Speed Development Component. The athlete will engage in a weight-training regimen designed to increase endurance, core strength, and overall body strength.
Generally the program component of the Peak Performance Program will meet during the evenings, with pre-high school participants meeting 7:00-8:15 p.m. and high school and older athletes meeting 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. However, during our summer schedule, participants may train earlier in the day.

Sports Enhancement Program

The Speed Academy's Sports Enhancement Program

The Sports Enhancement Program consists of High School and Pre-high school athletes that can only devote two-days each week to improve sports specific speed and agility.
1. The Speed, Quickness and Agility Component: The athletes will will initially focus, one-day each week, on sport specific speed drills designed to improve the young athlete’s technical running skills in their sport. As the athlete progress through the four-week training program, athletes will also engage in a sport specific quickness and agility training regiment designed to improve aerobic and anaerobic conditioning.
2. Strength Endurance Component: Depending on the age of the athlete, 0ne-day or two-days each week during the training cycle, training will focus primarily on sport strength endurance. The athlete will engage in a weight-training regimen designed to increase endurance, core strength, and overall body strength.
Both programs will generally meet during the evenings, pre-high school athletes will meet 7:00-8:15 p.m. and high school athletes at 8:00-9:30 p.m. However, during our summer schedule, participants may train earlier in the day.

Team Speed Training

The Speed Academy's Team Speed Program

The Team Speed, Quickness and Agility Training Program involve all elements of our speed development programs, with emphasis on sport specific training regimen. The focus is on improving running efficiency for the team's sport. The initial training involves a series of speed specific drills designed to improve each team member’s technical running skills as those skills relate to the team's sport. As the team progresses through the four-week training program, each athlete will receive individual attention focused on correcting ineffective running technique. In addition to improving technical running skills, the sport specific speed, quickness and agility training regiment will improve the team's overall aerobic and anaerobic conditioning.
We are flexible, so that training times and days negotiable. Generally the program will meet one day weekly for an six-week period. During our summer schedule, participants teams may arrange day time training sessions.
