The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) was founded in 1948 as an organization to develop a common method of communication for construction documentation. Today, CSI’s Masterformat is the construction industry’s prime management tool for efficient communication and easy retrieval of construction documents. CSI is an industry leader in professional development and continuing education. Purpose of Scholarship:
The purpose of the scholarship is to support CSI’s Student Affiliate Chapter Programs at affiliated universities and colleges to help students develop the bridge to professionalism. To facilitate the goals and desires of high school students who are interested in entering the construction industry.
Scholarship amount:
A one time, $1000.00 funding source plus RECSI will pay Institute, Chapter and Student Affiliate membership for one year.

Ray Longman Scholarship:
The scholarship is named for Architect Ray Longman, CSI, CCS, Emeritus member who was a founding member of the RECSI chapter in 1971, and a career-long advocate of professional development and education. RECSI funds this scholarship to a student who has a sincere desire to have a career in the construction industry.

Qualifications: The applicant
- Must be a full-time high school senior of junior college transfer student, between the ages of 18 and 25, attending or accepted as a full-time student in a two-year or four-year university and/or college in the college department of architecture, engineering or construction management programs in California or Hawaii, (preferably with an active Student Affiliate Chapter Program).
- Must be a resident of the RECSI chapter area (Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, Del Norte, Humboldt, and Lake) for a minimum of three years.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must submit three letters of recommendation from people (other than family or friends) on why applicant would be a good candidate.
- Must submit a 500-word essay on a specific topic, which is identified each year: Scholarship Questions

Application:
The Application must be completely filled out, signed and dated. Present application materials in the following order: -
One page application on top.
- Verification letter of acceptance from university or current proof of enrollment as full time student (if applicable).
- The names of the three reference providers with contact information on a single page.
- 500 word essay, typed, double spaced on white paper with applicants name and date in top right corner.
- Paper clip, not staple, the entire application package in the upper left hand corner.
- No cover letters, binders or folders of additional supporting documents. Improperly presented information will be grounds for disqualification.
