I hope as you read this month’s message you are enjoying the cheer of this holiday season and looking forward to the coming New Year. As CSI members we enjoy many benefits that enhance our professions, offer opportunities for education, and keep us at the forefront of developments in our industry. As Redwood Empire Chapter members we have the added good fortune of each other’s company. We work well together and we look out for each other. But most of all we have fun!
Our Holiday Party was an event not to be missed. Over 50 RECSI members, spouses, and friends gathered at Josef’s for great food and cheer. The evening started out like our normal dinner meeting with networking & libations and ended with ‘pirate toasts’. The other traditional stuff happened too. Josef and his staff prepared and served a wonderful dinner after which we enjoyed a chocolate torte. Through it all we had vibrant conversation over the wine generously donated by Chuck Young at Standard Structures. The ornament exchange after dinner was one of the best ever. Many people brought hand made ornaments! There were painted hand blown glass orbs, metallic stars, crystal tear drops, and even Bob the Builder.

The ornament exchange after dinner was one of the best ever. Many people brought hand made ornaments! There were painted hand blown glass orbs, metallic stars, crystal tear drops, and even Bob the Builder. Kyle Lowery at Interceramic, our Holiday Party Tabletop Sponsor, brought some of the glass orbs. My wife and I both thought, “Wow, those are SO beautiful, but they won’t last long in our house.” They were about 8-inches across, hand painted on hand-blown glass. I’ll just say that one of us (not me) tends to drop things, especially when they are transparent or vessels intended to hold wine. Kyle, I can say that those wonderful ornaments are in safe hands (not ours).
Those who missed the party missed out on hand-made double chocolate truffles meticulously crafted by our own Tiffany Valdivia. After I ate mine, I went for my wife’s truffle and found myself looking down the end of a fork. All I could do is slowly step away. They were beautiful and delicious. Thank you Tiffany!!
I think the party could have gone far into the night if we hadn’t realized there was still another workday ahead of us. As I was saying goodnight to many of you, I heard a particular group carrying on. They were behind Josef’s wall of wine, so I had to walk over to investigate. On the way I heard a jovial pirate’s “Argh!” along with the ‘ching’ of glasses. I quickly found out you only had to be within a couple feet of the table to be the subject of a celebratory toast. What do pirates have to do with the holidays? Probably nothing, but we had fun for fun’s sake. That’s the best kind. I hope your holiday season continues to be joyous and the New Year brings opportunity and prosperity. See you in 2008!!!

Our event planners, Tiffany Valdivia and Jennifer Alexander, did a tremendous job once again with the help of June LeGare and Karen Collins. Many guests thanked me for the evening and I deeply appreciated the gratitude and recognition. There is no ‘I’ in team. WE worked together, WE watched out for each other, and WE HAD FUN. Please be sure to thank Tiffany, Jennifer, June, and Karen at the next meeting. They’re the ones who really made things happen.
I hope your holiday season continues to be joyous and the New Year brings opportunity and prosperity. See you in 2008!!! |
