Walt graduated from California State University, Chico in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and a Minor in Business Administration. During college he worked summers as a loader operator and worked the school year as laborer and carpenter. After graduation, he went to work for Paul A. Laurence Co. as an office engineer on a $46 million WWTP in Oxnard, CA. Walt then joined K.G. Walters as a Project Engineer/Superintendent on a $6 million WWTP expansion in Sonoma, CA. After 2-1/2 years with K.G. Walters, he was promoted to Project Manager on $9 million WWTP in Carmel, and also completed 5 million dollar WWTP for California State Prison at Soledad.
Walt moved to the K.G. Walters World Headquarters in Santa Rosa after 6 years in the field, and was promoted to Vice President Civil; four years later he was promoted to Executive Vice President, and then to his current position of President and CEO. Walt feels that one of the keys to their success is the commitment from the top down to build trust and good working relations with our owners and engineers right from the start of a project, allowing everyone involved to work through the tough problems as a team. Walt is dedicated to hiring high quality people and giving them the necessary authority and support to be the best.
