Love is...

...for sharing.
How it all started - St Valentines Day, 2008 was the 38th anniversary of the Love is.. feature which was originally created by Kim Casali as a way of expressing her feelings for her husband,Roberto. Those drawings and sentiments grew into the famous syndicated panels of the little naked boy and girl, first launched in The Los Angeles Times in 1970.

How I came to draw Love is...
In 1975 I was picked by the creator, Kim Casali and her husband Roberto to take on producing the feature for her. Sadly, Roberto died in 1976. Then, tragically, after battling illness, Kim died in June 1997. Her eldest son Stefano has inherited her legacy. I continue to do the daily cartoons, now in my 33rd year as the Love is... artist.
The familiar little black and white panels you see above, are syndicated around the world by Tribune Media Services. They have a great Love is...Bulletin Board where fans chat and post daily.
In 1978 I was asked by The Mail on Sunday to devise a Love is...colour strip to fit into their weekend format. So I created this new style of "Love is..." exclusively for the UK's Mail on Sunday, which you see below. As well as the familiar black/white daily panels during the week, the colour strip appeared in the supplement every Sunday, for nearly twenty years.
