About us - How it all began

Bill Asprey (Cartoon World Founder & cartoonist)

Bill says he was only good at drawing, so always wanted to be an artist.  He began cartooning early in his career and has been a lifetime professional cartoonist ever since! Bill is the artist behind the Love is...cartoons, originally created by Kim Casali and Roald Dahl's Big Friendly Giant cartoon strip which he created for the Mail on Sunday, plus other well known features including Aphrodite, which was syndicated worldwide. He has also drawn cartoons under contract for Playboy Publications and produced thousands of cartoons for most of the world's newspapers and magazines. Bill's latest creations Beez and Puppy Love have recently been licensed for mobile phone content.

In 1998, Bill launched a website "Artful Asprey Cartoons" to show his own work, with the help of Mark Caswell and newly formed, Independent Web Marketing. Excited by the possibilities he started another, "Cartoon World" to help aspiring cartoonists to exhibit their work and to promote all aspects of the cartoon art form. So Cartoon World was born! Now, a small group of creatives and web-techies, from London to Lincolnshire, help to keep everything running smoothly, overseen and directed by Bill.

Colin Earl (Cartoonist)

Colin has been a lifetime cartoonist. He got his first cartooning job when he was sixteen, in his native Glasgow. He then soon took the plunge and went to London, and, as they say, the rest is history!

Over a long and illustrious career he has contributed to every major British publication including Punch, Tatler and Private Eye, as well as being syndicated worldwide. At one time you could not open a newspaper or magazine without seeing one of his cartoons adorning its pages! Although Colin now says he's taking things a little easier, he's in great demand and is actually as busy as ever. He draws every day, doing caricatures and producing paintings in different media and cartoons in colour, he's also chairman of his local art group. Colin has now brought his special talents to Cartoon World and is developing an exciting instructional programme for cartoonists and advises and teaches Cartoon World members in the dark arts of cartooning and illustration, which, as he says, will always be his first love. 

Mark Caswell (Independent Web-Marketing)

Mark, seen here in rare relaxed holiday mood in South Africa, and Independent Web Marketing, based at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, has guided, designed and hosted Cartoon World from its very beginnings. Says Mark, "We've grown some, over the years and geographically our clients now range from businesses based in our own village of Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire, to game reserves in South Africa, property rental in Spain and Canada and golf supply businesses in Australia and of course, Cartoon World and the Library, based in London! But we haven't lost that all important personal touch that enables clients to ring up and discuss projects and solutions." 

Mark, together with web "Guru" Jeff Arden have been instrumental in setting up and hosting Bill's latest project, the Cartoon World Library, launched in 2007.
