More Success stories for Disley Junior Section

Junior Knockout 2007

The final or this years KO was between Matt Oxley & Ross Johnson and in a very closley contested game Ross Johnson in his last year as a junior  came through as the winner, finishing 1 up down the 18th, no doubt Matt will be back in the final in the next few years

 The Jason Resnick Trophy 

With rounds of 69 68 66 & a final round of 76 - 16 = net 60 Tom Christie won the Jason Resnick trophy a staggering 17 under, Tom is now down to 11 handicap from 16, an excellent perfomance over the 4 round competition

England Call up

Jack Bingham has been picked for the England schools home international against Wales at Gay Hill Golf Club on the 29th Aug, having played for the Cheshire County boys team all season and the Adult Cheshire B team it is a great honour to be promoted to an  England side at any level

The Stewards Trophy

Matt Oxley won the Stewards Trophy with a fanatstic 43 points, in 2nd place was Robert Potter with another great score of 40 points followed by Felix Newman and Mike Holtom on 37 points

The Henshall Cup

Ross Johnson won the Henshall Cup with a 79 gross less 10 = 69 just holding off Tom Christie 88 less 18 = 70 followed by Mike Taylor 81 less 7= 74

Derbyshire & Cheshire  Romiley golf club

With good scores from Mike Holtom 72  just missing out on lowest gross and Jack Bingham 75 Disley stayed in the hunt for the gross prize with a total 232 just behind Tytherington with 231.

The Derek Huntstone Challenge Cup

Oliver Short won the DHC cup with a fantastic 65 closely followed by Jamie Pollard and Rob Potter both on 66. lowest gross was won by D & C captain Steve Whelan with a 77. Presented on the day by Derek, Oliver almost broke into a smile!!!!. Many thanks to Derek for his continued support

The Brian Clamp Trophy

This years Clamp Trophy was won by Matt Robinson with an 89 gross -28 net 61 from the in form Mike Taylor with 76 - 8 = net 68 on a card play off  with Jamie Pollard 89 - 21 =68  Andy Timmins 80 - 12 = net 68 and Tom Christie 86 - 18 = 68  Division 2 was won by Ed Clark 85 - 29 = 59  watch out the handicap hatchet will be out!!!!   The presentation will be held after the next junior major.

The Juniors / Seniors Texas Scramble competition held on Monday 9th April was won by the "Captain" (Colin Nesbitt)  John Hudson, Rob Potter and Connor Bingham with a commendable gross 65

Derbyshire & Cheshire

After rounds at Hazel Grove ( where the greens were not in great condition) and Davenport, despite not having fantastic scores Disley are well placed in the gross table, leading by four shots! one notable score was Mike Taylors 75 -8 = 67 at Hazel Grove, winning lowest gross. Well done Mike!!

Derbyshire & Cheshire league

   "Wrighty"

Mike Wright, known to everyone as Wrighty! has taken over the running of the Derbyshire & Cheshire from John Russell, we are sure he will carry on where John left off. Alongside new captain Steve Whelan lets hope for another good year!

Cheshire County Coaching 

This winter Disley had 10 juniors put forward for county coaching, the highest number in the area, with glowing reports from the coaches, a lot is expected of the Disley youngsters this year! 

Jack Bingham has been picked for the Four Counties Junior Tournament at Fairhaven Golf Club, Jack has also made his debut for the full county B team.
