ICC clobbers Gambino

ICC Associates and Trophy officials turned on Dr Simone Gambino, the original instigator of tight qualifications and progressively nationals playing in the ICC Trophy. They redefined their own rules on nationality and declared Italians not Italians at all. That way there was no chance of a Triumphant Gambino in Toronto. In fact he went to Corfu and supported his under 17s who came second.

West Africa was stranded in Accra by Canadian High Commission

Pig ignorance and beaurocratic obduracy by immigration officials at the Canadian High Commission in Accra,Ghana contrary to the undertakings of the Canadian Cricket Association in its bid to stage the Trophy left the West Africa squad delayed so long as to miss the tournament. Nations playing them collected a win in their absence so everybody there had a victory...of sorts.

UAE mounts protest to ICC

Two key players were refused entry by Canadian Immigration. Canada beat UAE by two wickets with two balls to go. with those players present a reverse result would have meant UAE came above Canada and would have played Scotland for third qualifying place. Skullduggery indeed.
