Indoor Cricket

Indoor cricket has developed independently in Australia as an 8 a side game played in narrow courts and in UK and Europe as a 6 a side game played in dedicated indoor cricket schools and also standard all purpose sports halls.

The 8 a side has attracted more sponsorship and high profile participation by first class and international cricketers and has spread to South Africa and New Zealand as well as UK. International series and World cups are played.

The 6 a side version is played by over 1200 clubs in annual competition with a final at Lord's each year and widely in Denmark. There is also aUniversity Indoor Championship run by BUSA. In continental Europe this version with modifications is widely played especially in Austria. ECC runs an annual nations tournament.

For some obscure reason ICC has never taken up the indoor game as part of its promotional and development  programme even for countries with a long winter viz USA,Canada, Russia, Finland etc.

There has always been a high participation by women in the 8 a side game and national and world competition usually involve both men and women  concurrent competitions.

Unfortunately so many of these websites seem to come and go so we apologise if you click onto nowhere.
